FAQs

How do I know if CBD is for me?

Many people familiar with cannabis have heard of THC, a compound that has a number of therapeutic properties, and is most well known for it's intoxicating effects. Cannabidiol, or CBD, is another compound in cannabis that gets a lot of attention for its medical benefits and it is non-psychoactive.

Because it is non-psychoactive, products made with CBD - whether used externally or taken internally – are a great choice for patients looking for relief from pain, anxiety, inflammation, seizures, spasms, and more without feeling “stoned” or lethargic. CBD works to bring all of your body's systems to homeostasis by reducing inflammation.

What's the difference between your products and other tinctures?

While there are lots of other great tinctures and topicals out there, our products are made completely differently. Instead of using cannabis extracts and concentrates - which are most often made using solvents and chemicals - our products are made simply using age old herbalism wisdom. We take CBD and THC strains of cannabis flowers, the very same beautiful buds you would smoke, and using only heat and pressure we infuse them into our organic, non-gmo olive oil. This method is not only completely all-natural, it also coaxes out all of the compounds in the cannabis that are beneficial and keeps them together as a team. Our products are naturally rich in not only CBD and/or THC, but also CBG, CBN, CBDa, CBC, as well as a host of other naturally occuring cannabinoids and terpenes. That makes our products super effective and about as full-spectrum as you can get!

What's the entourage effect?

Like all plants, cannabis is much more than just a single molecule. In fact, there are approximately 420 additional compounds, including other cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, amino acids, proteins, enzymes, fatty acids, and sugars. These other compounds not only give the cannabis plant its scent and flavor, but research has shown that terpenes significantly enhance the therapeutic potential of THC and CBD. Scientists call this phenomenon in which all the constituents of the cannabis plant work together, “the entourage effect.”

When processing cannabis using solvents like Butane or with CO2 extraction methods, many of the these therapeutic compounds and terpenes are lost. They then must be isolated and added back in to the final product. Our signature full flower infusion method ensures that all of the therapeutic properties of the plant are still there for you - your own personal entourage.

We like to think of it like a sports team - instead of just star player on the field, our products have the star player AND the whole team there, playing just for you.

What's the difference between CBD from cannabis and CBD from hemp?

We have a lot to say about this one!

Currently, there are no federal laws regulating testing of CBD hemp products before they hit the shelves. In fact, 6 out of 10 times, the number of milligrams advertised on the bottle is not what's inside. Also, without testing regulations, things like mold and pesticides can easily creep in. Often when people have reactions to a CBD hemp tincture they've tried, it's actually a reaction to the pesticides in the bottle! Yuck.

Industrial hemp contains far less CBD than CBD-rich cannabis. That means these companies need to grow and process a lot of hemp to extract a small amount of CBD. A lot of hemp equates to more water and more energy usage.  Industrial hemp is also a bio-accumulator. That means that it draws out nasty stuff like heavy metals from the ground, which just increases the risk of toxic contamination in the end product.

What's more, CBD from industrial hemp has to be extracted using machines (either CO2 extraction, or even worse extracted using butane) and once it's extracted it's just the CBD molecule without the help of all of the other healing plant compounds that make up the "entourage effect." Companies (like us!) who instead use CBD rich cannabis are making whole medicine. Period. The goodness is just naturally all in there.

revolutionary study from Israel has documented the superior therapeutic properties of whole plant CBD-rich cannabis extract as compared to synthetic, single-molecule cannabidiol (CBD) (and, as it turns out, compared to aspirin and your typical OTC anti-inflammatory pill). Published in the journal Pharmacology & Pharmacy (February, 2015), the article directly challenges the idea that making a “pure” single-molecule pill of CBD is better than “crude” botanical preparations which are seen as inherently low grade and less effective. This study shows that in fact, botanical preparations like ours are more effective in treating more conditions and ailments.

We're certainly not saying that it's impossible to find good CBD hemp tinctures and topicals - there are many companies with a lot of integrity out there - we just recommend doing your homework OR buy CBD cannabis products instead. The regulations are incredibly stringent in California (actually the most difficult testing protocols to pass out of any industry), and many farms grow their cannabis bio-dynamically, so you're good on both counts there.

What's the Endocannabinoid System?

The endocannabinoid system is a group of receptors found in all mammals. It is known as "the body’s own cannabinoid system" and it is involved in many physiological processes including appetite, pain-sensation, mood, and memory, and in mediating the psychoactive effects of cannabis. CBD affects the CB1 and CB2 receptors in the human brain. CB1 receptors are located throughout the brain and central nervous system, while CB2 receptors are found in high density in the immune system and the gastrointestinal system. This is why CBD and THC can help a wide range of ailments from chronic pain to nausea and gastrointestinal issues. In fact, the endocannabinoid system is the only system of that is involved in nearly everything our body does - that's why cannabis can be used to treat so many conditions. As reported by Constance Therapeutics "pharmaceuticals used to treat the same diseases are less effective and have side effects."

Where can I buy your products?

You can buy our products through any of our partner shops. We partner with both delivery and brick and mortars throughout the state of California, and are always looking to expand our reach! Check out our SHOP page here to find one closest to you.

I live outside of California, can you ship?

Unfortunately, due to federal law, cannabis cannot currently cross state lines. We are not allowed to ship outside of California :( I know, we hate it too.
